The students of Indian School of MINES (ISM) an Dhanbad yesterday had a long wait for AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi wasworth it as he assured them that he would take the matter for the demand of acquiring IIT status to with the Union HRD ministry. He said that the matter is prerogative of the a Union HRD ministry and he said he would ask the department to look into the possibility of giving IIT status to ISM, Dhanbad. He added that he would be pleased if their demands were fulfilled as early as possible.

Hundreds of students had been waiting for hours to meet the AICC general secretary inside the campus ground. They were dressed in blazers despite the heat to give their representation to Rahul Gandhi on their demand of IIT status for ISM.

Rahul landed on the helipad within the one constructed in campus and he first attended a meet at Tinman auditorium. On his arrival15 students handed him their representations. They explained him the institute quality to acquire IIT status.
