Karnataka Demands to Amend IIT Bill to Reserve 25 % Seat in IITs
Congress Ruled Karnataka State Government had made a Representation to Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar and Appeal the Central Government to Amend the IIT Act to Reserve the 25% Seats in Indian Institutes of Technologies Located in Various States. In Addition to that the State Government also Demanded for a IIIT at Raichur District, Recognising the Courses Offered in Karnataka Open University, Support for Starting Railway Engineering Course and Flying School in the State of Karnataka.
After making a representation to HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, Karnataka State Higher Education Minister Basava Rajraya Reddy Said that the IIT Dharwad which is Newly Established IIT in Karnataka had started Functioning in Private Campus From 1st August 2016. As per the details Sources only 7 Karnataka Students has been Selected for Admissions in IIT Dharwad. State Government of Karnataka had Allotted 500 Acers of Land for IIT Dharwad for Free of Cost. In order to satisfy the State Governments Central Government had to amend the IIT Act to Provide ¼ th of Seats in IITs to Local Candidates.
In Addition to the IIT Amendment Act State Higher Education Mister also appear the HRD Minister to Recognize Karnataka Open University as state Government had amended the the Laws in link this University Grants Commission UGC.
