The Government of Uttar Pradesh hiked the Tuition fee for the Various courses in aided engineering colleges on Saturday. A fee of Rs. 40,000 is fixed by the cabinet after the discussions, as the earlier fee for the B.Tech, B.Arch courses was 25,000 Said an officer. For the students taking admissions through NRI Quota is hiked to $ 7,000 from $ 5,000.The aspirants are also intended to pay Rs. 5,000 which will be refunded again after the aspirants completes their course. The Government of Andhra Pradesh is opposing the hike in the Engineering colleges and the seats for the past few months but the AICTE has approved the New Engineering colleges. AICTE Standards for the Engineering Colleges

Faculty :
* For B.Tech Every 15 students should have one Lecturer

* For M.Tech every 12 students should have one Lecturer

* For Each Bracnhe in B.Tech the ratio of the Professors : Assistant Professors : Lecturers should be as follows 1 : 2 : 6 and these lecturers should have M.Tech Degree compulsory.

Building :

Based on the students in each Branch the building area should be alloted. Class rooms, Labs, Seminar hall, Libraries should be constructed as per the AICTE Norms.

Library :
* Every day the Library should be available for the students for 12 hours, the other facilities should be provided for the students.

* For every branch should have 250 books of 4 volumes. Ie., 1000 Books. If the college is offering 4 branches theen 4,000 books.

* Based on the branches National and International journals should be provided. For B.Tech Branches there should be minimum of 6 national and 3 international Journals

Labs :
* Every Lab should contain the In charge for giving guidance. One senior Lab Technician for supporting the in charge in Lab.

* The Labs for the Electronic, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering Branches is Mandatory with nearly 70% of the facilities.

* For Every 4 students on computer should be provided.

Engineering Colleges in India are increasing but the Quality is not increasing

Limited Facilities, Lack of the Lecturers, College building in rented areas, Labs with out the required equipment… The teaching doesn’t reach the standards that the Industries wants. But the Engineering colleges are ready to start the new Academic Year. In some States Counseling has been completed and some other state are ready for counseling. As usual many of the engineering colleges which doesn’t reach the AICTE Standards are also in the Counseling list and admitting the students for their Commercial point of view they are not supposed to think about the students future. The NASCOM’s Survey in Andhra pradesh had let out a fact that only 12% of the students have the skills and technical knowledge to get a job after completing their course.

• Many of the Engineering Colleges in India doesn’t have minimum facilities.
• Lecturers with out experience, Labs with out equipments
• Every year the Engineering colleges are growing in Number but not the Quality

Lots of Engineering colleges :

There are lots of Engineering colleges in India even though there is a deficiency of 56,000 Phd candidates and 82,000 M.Tech Graduates. So the Graduates who have completed B.Tech are joining as the Lecturers who doesn’t have any experience. Here is an example for such issue : In JNTU Hyderabad region only among the 300 engineering colleges not even 83 principals with the Qualification are not recruited.

Half of the Engineering colleges doesn’t have minimum facilities.

The Engineering colleges are being approved by the AICTE are not even having the facilities like experienced Lecturers. In rural areas we cann’t even have the basic facilities. Last year 35% of the seats in the Rural areas are left unfilled due to this reason. This year AICTE has increased some more seats for such colleges, As they have a team to inspect the colleges they have given approval for the colleges which have provided a bond stating that they have all the facilities.
