AP Government to give 75% weightage to CET
Minister for Technical Education Mopidevi Venkata Ramana said after a review meeting with the Chief Minister K Rosaiah said that the same system will continue for the 2010-11 academic year and they shall consider revising it in the subsequent academic year.
The system was implemented for the first time this year with 75 per cent weightage given to the marks secured in the common entrance test also decided to introduce the same.
The Andhra Pradesh government decided to continue the system of giving ’25 per cent weightage’ to marks secured in Intermediate examination for admission into engineering courses.
The government has also decided to continue the web-based counselling process for admission to professional colleges, the Minister added. This process enabled candidates to select a college and course of his\her choice through Internet or from a helpline centre in the state and also decided to introduce the same.
Following the web-based counselling’s success, states like Kerala, UP and Maharashtra have emulated it while IITs and AIEEE announced that the web-based process would be adopted for admissions from 2010-2011. Karnataka and Orissa also decided to introduce the same
