EAMCET 2010 will have web based counselling
EAMCET 2010 will have web based counseling for the various professional courses. The State Government took this decision as many other states have adopted web based counseling for professional courses for various entrance exams.
There have been no changes regarding the fees and seats for engineering courses for EAMCET 2010.
Web based counseling was introduced last year and had based opposition from students, parents and educational institutions due to uncertainty over allotment of seats.
About 5,000 complaints had been received with regard to engineering admissions this year. Students and parents have been demanding restoration of the old method of direct counselling whereby they enjoyed the liberty of choosing the course and college.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah directed officials of the technical education department to streamline the web-based counselling to ensure that there were no further complaints. He wanted the officials to bring about changes and ensure more transparency in the system. Though the system is currently facing some technical snags, the officials have decided to continue it. He also asked the officials to study the feasibility of increasing the Intermediate marks weightage from 25 per cent to 50 per cent in EAMCET from 2011.
Technical Education Minister MV Ramana said that the government would announce cut-off date to grant permission for establishment of engineering colleges. Many colleges are obtaining permission from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) after the commencement of counselling. That will not be allowed from the current academic year. The selection of eligible candidates for Rajiv IIITs will also be streamlined to maintain transparency in the selection process.
